Pranayama & Meditation Workshop with Mayuri MuljiDates: Dec 15th
Time: 3:00pm - 5:00pm
Description: Breath, life and energy are intrinsically connected, and yogis have a single word for all three – Prana. Pranayama, where the breath is controlled, increases vitality and mental focus and expands consciousness. The breath acts as a bridge to our nervous system, and by exploring pranayama practices we can observe how deeply it is connected to the mind. Just as our breathing fluctuates depending on our mood, our psychological state can be altered by changes in our breath. Conscious breathing brings oxygen and energy to the cells and enhances all cellular processes. It’s simple: when we breathe better, we feel better. Experience a radiant spirit of harmony and lightness with breathing exercises. Through various pranayamas, we will learn how to enhance and extend the breath. We will draw upon our inner locks or bandhas to channel our heightened pranic energy. We will use mudras (hands gestures), pranayama and meditation to explore ways to strengthen our mental focus. Awaken your inner body of light to brighten your spirit for the holidays and drive stress away by experiencing physical rejuvenation and mental clarity.
Physical Well-Being. Lightness of Heart. Clarity of Mind. Inner and Outer Health and Fulfillment. Weight Loss. Purpose, Intention, and Direction. If you could produce these sorts of results without any cost, equipment, office visits, travel, or special talent, would you be interested? If all it took was 30 minutes a day, would you take the next step? Why not get started!
Yoga is so much more than the poses! Give yourself the gift of awakening inner presence as we enter the season of reflection and gratitude. All levels, including beginners, welcome.

Pelvic Floor WorkshopDate: Feb. 2nd
Time: 12:30pm – 3:00pm
Cost: $40 in advance, $45 at the door
What are the Pelvic Floor Muscles?
Why are they important?
How can Yoga help?
The pelvic floor is important to the healthy functioning of the body. Problems in this area of your body can include bladder weakness, organ prolapse and pelvic pain, as well as sacroiliac, hip and sciatic pain. These problems can from a lack of strength in these muscles. Surprisingly more common with yoga practitioners is what is called “hypertonic” or too much tension and gripping. We develop habits of overworking this area in an attempt to find physical balance or in improper or aggressive work with the bandhas; yoga's system of energetic locks. Balance is properly achieved by integrating the actions of the legs, pelvic floor and abdominal core. Also key is developing an understanding of the subtlety of bandha work.
In this workshop:
• Learn the basic anatomy, structure and function of the pelvic floor in activities such as standing and sitting, as well as in simple yoga postures.
• Experience yogic practices targeted at releasing hypertonic patterns and gripping in the pelvic floor.
• Feel how to properly begin to strengthen weaker areas of the pelvic floor.
All levels are welcome. Please arrive with an empty stomach and eat no later than 1 hour before the workshop.

David Williams has been practicing Yoga daily, without interruption, since 1971. In 1972, David met K. P. Manju , the son of K. Pattabhi Jois, and saw Manju demonstrate the Ashtanga Yoga 1st series. This was at Dr. Swami Gitananda's Ananda Ashram in Pondicherry, South India, where David received his 6 month Yoga teachers training course certification.
In 1973, David began studying Ashtanga Yoga with K. Pattabhi Jois at his home in Mysore, India, and became the first non-Indian to be taught the complete Ashtanga Yoga system of asanas and pranayama directly from Jois. David introduced K. Pattabhi Jois and Manju to America and the western world when he, along with Nancy Gilgoff, organized and sponsored their first visit to Encinitas, California, in 1975.
David is responsible for teaching the Ashtanga Yoga system to many of today's leading teachers and practitioners, including David Swenson, Doug Swenson, Danny Paradise, Bryan Kest, Jonny Kest, Tracy Rich, Chuck Miller, and Maty Ezraty.
David is 64 years old. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has lived on the island of Maui, Hawaii, since l976, and teaches private individual or group classes by appointment.
