Ashtanga Basics
This class provides an introduction to Ashtanga yoga for those students who are just getting started or those who prefer to practice at a slower pace. Students will learn the basics of the practice (sun salutations, standing postures, a few seated postures, and a modified closing sequence) and build a foundation that will allow for an easy to transition into the other classes offered at the studio. Knowledge of yoga is not necessary for this class.
Ashtanga Basics & More
This playful but challenging class will cover the basics of the Ashtanga practice, but will also explore some of the second series asanas and focus on specific areas of the body. Each class will have a slightly different focus, all building towards expanding your abilities and having fun.
Ashtanga All Levels
This class delves into the primary series of the Ashtanga practice and explores basics of the second series as well. Students will learn the integration of movement and breath within the flow of the Ashtanga practice, and proper alignment will be emphasized. While modifications will be offered for each posture, we recommend students attend a few basic-level classes to familiarize themselves with Ashtanga yoga before attending this class. Ashtanga Yoga helps realign the spine, detoxify the body, and builds strength, flexibility and stamina.
Sivananda Basics
This class emphasizes proper
exercise (the asanas), proper breathing (pranayama), proper
relaxation, a proper diet, positive thinking and meditation. Christine
especially believes in the vitality of the breath, which controls our
well-being. Drawing on these components of Sivananda Yoga, her class
is designed to strengthen the mind, body and soul connection.
Private Instruction
If you are recovering from an injury or illness, new to yoga and feel like you need extra help, or have been practicing a while and want to fine-tune your poses, private instruction is for you! You will be one-on-one with the instructor and can focus on your goals, whether you want an overview of an entire series or to work on specific areas. Personalized instruction will help you develop a true understanding of the yoga poses and breathing techniques at your speed instead of trying to keep up with the speed and distractions of a group class. Your instructor can also help you develop a series of poses for you to practice at home that are right for your body and goals.
